To give full play to the innovative vitality and initiative of young scientific and technological talents, to contribute to the continuous improvement of the academic level and professional influence of the journal of Cotton Textile Technology, to help outstanding young scholars grow and succeed, and to empower technological innovation in the industry, on July 23, 2026, Shaanxi Cotton Textile Technology Journal Press held the first young editorial Board of Cotton Textile Technology and Industrial Innovation Technology Salon in Xi’an. The meeting brought together nearly 50 guests, including leaders of the journal’s supervisory and sponsoring units, young editorial board members and specially invited representatives, to discuss plans for the high-quality development of the journal. The opening ceremony and the appointment ceremony of the young editorial board members were hosted by Fu Xiaoyan, director of the journal’s editorial creation center. The industrial innovation technology salon was hosted by Yang Jiami, chief editor of the journal. The discussion session on the academic construction of the journal was hosted by Pan Peng, deputy chief editor of the journal.
Su Litao, secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman and General Manager of Shaanxi Textile Research Institute Co., Ltd., the supervisory and sponsoring unit of Cotton Textile Technology, and Director of National Cotton Textile Science and Technology Information Center and National Textile Machinery Science and Technology Information Center, delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that the current textile industry is undergoing an all-round transformation, with new materials, digitalization and green processes interweaving, the pace of industrial upgrading is continuously accelerating, and the industry’s academic publishing model is also undergoing a transformation. The development of the industry urgently needs young and innovative intellectual resources to continuously inject vitality. Against this background, it is of great significance to build an academic platform exclusively for young people and establish a young editorial board. It is hoped that the young editorial board will build on their professional strengths and jointly create distinctive academic content. Play the role of a bridge to connect the links of industry-university-research transformation. Be bold in innovation and exploration to broaden the path of technology dissemination. Shaanxi Textile Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Cotton Textile Technology Journal Press will do their best to provide support for the long-term operation of the young editorial board, build a virtuous ecosystem of win-win for the journal, young scholars and the textile industry, and call on the young editorial board to contribute to the long-term development of the journal with innovative thinking and promote the high-quality upgrading of the textile industry with the power of young scientific and technological innovation.
The founding ceremony of the first youth editorial committee of Cotton Textile Technology was held at the meeting. The young editorial board members of this term were elected through open recruitment, individual applications and strict selection procedures. The first committee consists of 67 experts and scholars, with an average age of 38, showing a significant youth-oriented feature. The committee members are widely distributed, covering 38 institutions at home and abroad, including 27 well-known universities and 11 key enterprises, research institutes and inspection and testing institutions. The research directions cover high-performance fiber materials, composite materials, textile digitalization, smart wearables, medical and health textiles, green textiles, and other related fields. It is a highly professional and dynamic academic group of young scholars. At the meeting, appointment letters were presented to representatives of the young editorial board members present. The presentation of the appointment letters marked the official formation of the first young editorial board of Cotton Textile Technology, and the young editorial board became an important expert force of the journal
Ran Junli, vice president of Shaanxi Cotton Textile Technology Journal Press and deputy director of National Cotton Textile Science and Technology Information Center, introduced the historical evolution, current development status and future transformation and development ideas of Cotton Textile Technology Journal. She said that the first batch of young editorial board members of Cotton Textile Technology are erudite, specialized, vigorous and widely distributed, a young academic group with excellent professional skills and full of vitality. Cotton Textile Technology will take this opportunity to build an efficient platform for industry-university-research-application, gather the strength of young people and promote the high-quality development of textile science and technology. Cotton Textile Technology will continue to adhere to the principle that content is king, focus on key topics, innovate publication forms, deepen the expert-run model, improve mechanisms and teams, expand international influence, better refine characteristics.and deeply serve the development of the industry.
In the industrial innovation technology salon session, the young editorial board members present focused on high-performance materials, smart textiles, medical textiles, composite materials and textile digitalization and intelligence, sharing and exchanging new technologies and new achievements in emerging cross-disciplinary fields of textiles, and discussing key technologies and future development of industrial innovation. The young editorial board members, including Professor Yao Lirong from Nan tong University, Senior Engineer Zhang Ying from Chengdu Polytechnic University of Light Industry, Associate Professor Yao Yijun from Xi’an Polytechnic University, Doctor Wei Qingsong from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and Young Researcher Zhang Sudao from Donghua University, gave special reports.
In the discussion session on the academic construction of the journal, the young editorial board members shared the technical hotspots in their fields based on their own research areas.
They put forward suggestions covering three dimensions: “focusing on core business and precise planning of key topics”, “gathering high-quality resources to consolidate the journal’s development foundation”, and “advancing featured development to comprehensively lift academic standards”, including optimized journal topic selection, high-quality manuscript excavation, academic resource linkage and industrial collaboration.
After the meeting, representatives of the young editorial board members visited Shaanxi Science and Technology Holding Group Co., Ltd. and Shaanxi Textile Research Institute Co., Ltd. in person and exchanged views on related scientific and technological achievements.
Young editorial board members, as an active innovative force in the cotton textile industry chain, are an important supporting force for the academic construction and content innovation of the journal, a “bridge” connecting basic research and industrial implementation, and a “vanguard” driving the journal to a higher level.
